One of the most popular anchorages on Martinique and also a dive shop hub, this is a nice place to be. Like the name implies, this is a huge cove with tons of room to anchor. It seems like the cats are on the northern side and the monohulls on the SE side and for good reason as if there is any swell, it does roll into the northern part of the cove. Holding is good in sand and the water is clear and very nice for swimming. A large pier has space for many tour boats and cruiser's dinghies. The beach is crowded with tourists, restaurants, dive shops and island gift shops. There are good scuba dive sites right around the southern corner at Point Burgos, an easy dinghy trip away. A hiking trail runs both north (2) & south. One of the northern ones goes around Cap Salomon to an old battlement. Along the way are info panels on mangroves, tons of land crabs and wooded sections. We saw one very basic supermarket here, mainly unrefridgerated items.
