Description (0)This anchorage is on the western side of Peel Island. It is an alternative to Horseshoe Bay with better protection from SE winds but isn't as attractive. The bottom is soft mud and we had difficulty getting our anchor to set but perhaps that was just our anchor. The shoreline is all mangroves and there is a large sand spit that juts out from the east and is well marked. The approach is easy with plenty of water. Peel island is a good stopping point when making your way north or south and is not too far off your track. The nice thing about Peel Island is there are no moored boats so there is lots of room to anchor.
